SEO-friendly content writing is not just about pandering to your audience with content that is splattered with keywords. It is recommended to take a holistic approach to SEO and consider all factors. The days of being able to manipulate one or two isolated metrics are gone. If your content is hard to scan, meaning it contains long sentences and paragraphs, it's likely that your visitors won’t stick around. Chances are, they’ll go to your competitors to find content that’s easier to consume. A backlink is basically someone else’s website linking to you. Obviously, pages with higher page rank that link back to you give more Google Juice.

I am passionate about SEO, and digital marketing more generally, but I also understand it has its pitfalls, the main one being the complex, crowded and confusing market for SEO services. The obvious engagement related thing is social media. Check some social platforms, starting with Facebook and Twitter and Instagram to see if your desired audience is present on these platforms. If you have different sections of your site, or domains for each country, enter each one in the relevant directories: Google Places, Bing Business Portal, or any other directory that’s relevant to your region. Sites that promote “thin,” low-value content run the risk of being penalized by Google; they also tend to have high bounce rates and low conversion rates. Take a look at sites like the BBC and you ’ll see that they have huge and highly diverse links profiles. They’ll have links from massive sites but also tiny, spam sites. When a site is truly successful, it will lose control over all of its links. Thus, it can actually be useful to make your links profile as diverse as possible. Dig through your customer communications to find additional, actively used keywords. Talk to your customer service people to find out what customers are asking about (in their words).

Make sure your website is indexed in Google

In the past, commenting on blogs and forums solely for the sake of building links was the norm. The reality, however, is that many blogs and forums have little or no link value. Therefore, building links via this method will do nothing to boosting your website’s ranking. When building your content, it’s important to remember to give the crawlers enough to bite into. A hundred words typically isn’t enough copy for these crawlers to read and understand what the content is about. And this content shouldn’t be stuffed with keywords either, as some search engines (as you’ll learn in later sections) punish websites for keyword stuffing. You should search your favourite search engines for search terms such as: “add url”, “suggest website” and add your website to these sites. All of this constitutes to link building for your website.
