Organic search is a powerful channel for getting new customers, but SEO isn’t a one-time investment, and it won’t magically fix your marketing challenges. Search engine optimization should be a part of a website for its lifetime, continuously improving its ability to make a brand (and its content) be more visible and to create a better experience for users. A general rule to follow when creating your new URLs: use dashes (-) between words instead of underscores (_). Google treats dashes as separators, which means it can return results when you search for a single word that appears in a URL and when you search for a group of words that appears in a URL. In contrast, Google treats underscores as connectors, which means it will only return results when you search for a group of connected words that appears in a URL. The bottom line: using dashes creates more opportunities for your pages to be discovered. Consider writing a piece of guest content, not for your own site but for a relevant, external site. As part of the deal, agree that you may include a link to your site

Putting it All Together

A URL is more important than you may think it is. Your website’s URL structure is like a math formula — when followed properly it will give you the right answer. On average, the higher up page 1 the result is, the greater the number of linking domains that the webpage has. SEO is technical, complicated, time-consuming and potentially dangerous. There was a time when SEO really was a matter of determining which keywords could deliver the most traffic, then optimizing your website for those terms, and then building as many links as you could get away with. It was mechanical, and it was simple. But over time it proved to be fully unsustainable.

More powerful subheadings

A major consideration when creating internal backlinks is how you link different assets together. Google will follow your links, the post and pages that have the most internal links will be most likely to rank high in the search engines. Google’s algorithms are always changing and updating, and increasingly there is more and more focus on the user — with the search engines favouring quality content over poorly written, keyword-stuffed pages. Search engine optimization, while a very technical practice, is a marketing function—and it needs to be treated like one.

Links, links, links!

Don’t use hidden text or links on your website to optimize your site for search engines. Some webmasters will try to make text or links invisible to visitors but visible to search engine spiders. One way they do this is to use white text on a white background. Search engines can now easily spot this sort of behavior, so it will not help your site rank at all. When it comes to getting your website ranked highly then keywords are still an essential part of Google’s ranking algorithm, they are the very backbone of search engine (even Yahoo) after all. But keywords aren’t what they might always appear to be. For SEO purposes, you should definitely monitor the click through rates of different pages. You should be able to see the rates of specific pages on your website in Google Search Console. According to SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "Links from a diverse range of websites is good, many links from a single domain to your site (especially if it’s one of the very sites linking to you) can be seen as spammy."

Incorrect Language Declaration

Check archive.org (Wayback Machine) or Screenshots.com to make sure the website has a clean history, particularly its most recent history. This has happened to me a couple times, so I look out for it now. If at any point it looks like the domain was home to a PBN site (private blog network), avoid it at all costs. It may have a pure spam penalty! Guest Blogging simply means writing an article for another site. By doing this, not only will you be directing that site’s audience straight to your content, but you will also be generating an incredibly useful backlink. This is also a great way to increase your site’s reach and expand your audience, increasing your following and thus potential to build further backlinks and rank higher on Google. Finding authoritative sites that’ll link back to your pages can be difficult. Ensure your website is crawlable with the site:yourdomain.com search. Note the number of results.
